How
can I join NASW?
The quickest and easiest
way is to join online at https://www.socialworkers.org/nasw/join/default.asp. Once
you've completed the application and your credit card
information has been accepted, you'll become a member
instantly. And, as a new member you'll have immediate
access to NASW's "Members Only" section
on our Web Site.
You can also email us at membership@naswdc.org or
call 1-800-742-4089 to request an application. Once
you've completed it, send it to ATTN: Member
Records, NASW, 750 First St, NE, Suite 700, Washington,
DC, 20002, with a check or credit card information,
or fax it directly to our Member Records department
at 202-336-8331 with credit card information
only.

How long does
it take to process my membership application?
If you join online at https://www.socialworkers.org/nasw/join/default.asp your
membership becomes active immediately. If you
fax it to us at 202-336-8331, then
it takes 5 to 7 days to process from date of receipt. If
you mail the application to ATTN: Member Records,
NASW 750 First Street, NE, Suite 700, WashingtonDC 20002,
it takes 10 to 14 days from the date of receipt.

When
will I receive new member packet?
From the time we receive
new applications in our office, it takes 7 to 14 days
to process and send out new member packets, including
new member ID cards. If you joined NASW online
then you'll receive your packet in about 5 to 7 days.
If you misplace your ID
cards, you can purchase another one for $10.00 by calling Member
Services at 1-800-742-4089.

How
can I check the status of my membership application?
There are two easy ways
to check on the status of your application. Send
an email to membership@naswdc.org with your name
and address and we will respond to you within 2 days,
or call us at 1-800-742-4089. Remember,
if you fax or mail in your application it can take
5 to 14 days to be processed.

What
if there is a problem with my application?
If we are unable to process
your application we will contact you either by phone
or written correspondence to resolve issues that might
cause a delay.

Has
my payment been received? I have already paid
but received a second notice.
You probably received the
second notice because your payment and the renewal
notice you received crossed in the mail. We usually
mail renewals at the end of the second week of each
month. If you would like to be sure your payment
was received, call Member Services at 1-800-742-4089.

How
can I renew or reinstate my membership?
You can send your check
and renewal form in the self-addressed envelope included
with your renewal notice. If you'd like to renew
quickly using a credit card, please call Member
Services at 1-800-742-4089.
If your membership lapsed
and you're interested in reactivating, call Member
Services at 1-800-742-4089, and an
Information Specialist can process your credit card
information. Your members will be activated in
5 to 7 business days.

When
do I receive my updated member ID card the upcoming
year?
You will receive your member
ID card for the upcoming year's membership with your
FIRST renewal notice. This first renewal notice
is sent to you three months prior to your membership
expiration date.

How
can I access the "Members Only" section of NASW's
Web Site?
To access the "Members Only" Section,
you'll need to be an active member of NASW and have
your username and password available. If you
don't have this information, you can obtain it two
ways: 1) if you have your Member ID (which is
the same as your username), and you've forgotten your
password, request it on www.socialworkers.org provided we have
your most current EMAIL address in our records. If
you do not have this information call Member Services
at 1-800-742-4089.

What
is a Username and Password, and how do I get one?
To get a Username and Password,
you must be an active member of NASW. It
gives you access to NASW's "Members Only" section of
our Web Site. If you do not currently have
your username and password, call Member Services Department
at 1-800-742-4089.

Have
you received my change of address information that
I mailed in to you? I'm not receiving any mailings
from NASW.
You can check to see if
your address information is current in the "Members
Only" section of our Web Site, using your username
and password. If you do not have this information,
please call us at 1-800-742-4089.
If the information we have
is current, you might want to check with your local
Post Office to see if they are correctly delivering
your mail.

How
can I find out if my refund request has been processed?
It takes up to 30 days for
refund requests to be processed and mailed. If
you request for a refund is recent, please call Member
Services at 1-800-742-4089 in
about three weeks to check the status.

The NASW Specialty Practice Sections
(SPS) are an essential resource for social workers
whose interests and practice needs vary. The
NASW SPS is designed to provide content expertise and
inform members about current trends and policy issues
that impact social work practice and service delivery. The

NASW's Office of Quality
Assurance establishes and promotes the standards and
credentials required for excellence in the practice
of social work. The Office is responsible for the administration
