The vision of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) is that the United States will become a place where new HIV infections are rare and when they do occur, every person, regardless of age, gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or socio-economic circumstance will have unfettered access to high quality, life-extending care, free from stigma and discrimination. The NHAS stresses professional development as a key component of success. This session is intended to expand the knowledge and capacity of social workers to address the myriad of bio-medical and psychosocial issues confronting people living with HIV and AIDS, and to learn how we can support the goals of the NHAS across the diverse areas of social work practice.
