The NASW SC Chapter is hosting its 26th Annual Spring March 11-14, 2012 at the Doubletree Hotel in Columbia, SC. “Social Work Matters” will offer social workers, social work students and other human service professionals the opportunity to sharpen practice skills, increase awareness of social issues, and enhance their knowledge of evidenced-based best practices through educational workshops and seminars. In addition, continuing education contact hours are awarded which can be applied toward maintaining professional licensure. This event will hold its Annual Awards Banquet recognizing outstanding Social Work professionals, students, community members and legislators for their work and contribution to the Social Work Profession.

On March 7, 2012 NASW-Kentucky will be hosting a 1 hour CEU for social workers, students and legislators in conjunction with the Chapter’s lobby day at the State Capitol in Frankfort, Kentucky from 10am-11am EST. Laura Groshong is the featured speaker for the day. Ms. Groshong has served as a legislative consultant for many states around issues pertaining to clinical social work and has also worked at the Federal level with the Clinical Social Work Association. Partnering with the NASW-Kentucky Chapter and the Kentucky Society of Clinical Social Workers, Ms. Groshong will discuss current National issues and state-specific legislation.
Ms. Groshong will also serve as the main speaker for the Social Work Rally to be held at 1pm on the same day in the Capitol Rotunda. The morning event will serve as a precursor to this rally and will prepare social workers and students to speak with legislators after the rally.
