Holiday Closing

The NASW national office will be closed for the holidays from Dec. 24 through Dec. 31, 2004.

Clarification

To clarify the September story "Credentials' Requirements Are Changed": There are no continuing education requirements for members renewing their Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) certification. Members currently holding the ACSW credential will continue to renew annually, as in the past. The revised criteria for the ACSW credential, approved by the NASW Board of Directors in June, affect members submitting ACSW applications for the first time.

NASW Celebrates American Indian Heritage Month

Workforce Study

NASW and the Center for Health Workforce Studies at the University at Albany, State University of New York, are conducting the first comprehensive study documenting the role of social workers in a range of service settings. This study, a random sample of licensed social workers across the country, will be conducted from September until November 2004. Data from the study will clarify social workers' important role in providing social services and will guide policy and planning efforts to assure that an appropriately trained social work workforce will be in place to meet the needs of the country's rapidly changing population. If you receive a survey, please take a few minutes to complete and return it. Your participation is very important.

Sanctions in Force

NASW adjudicates certain allegations of violations of its Code of Ethics by members, and if violations are found, may impose sanctions. For the current list of sanctions of public notification imposed within the past 10 years that remain in force: Sanctions in Force.

Tips for Using NASW Online

Use Internet Explorer for Windows: NASW's Web sites are optimized for Internet Explorer for Windows, the most popular browser used on the Internet. You can use other browsers, such as AOL's, Netscape Navigator or Apple's Safari. But 97 percent of NASW sites' visitors use Internet Explorer for Windows, and it displays the sites more accurately.

Get Plugged In: NASW's Web sites enhance users' experience by adding interactive features through browser plug-ins. The most common ones are available free - Macromedia's Flash plug-in and Adobe Reader for viewing PDF documents (click the "Get Adobe Reader" button).
