Colleagues Enter a Range of Public Offices

One of the benefits of a social work degree is the wide range of professional opportunities social workers have available to them, including counseling, administration and advocacy work, among many other fields of practice.

A number of social workers have discovered another position their degrees and experience have prepared them well for: public office.

The U.S. Congress includes six social workers, but it is on the local level that social workers often first find themselves drawn to seeking positions in elected governments.
