From November 2001 NASW NEWS "We want to look at how to promote a healthier adolescent population." The NASW Partners in Program Planning for Adolescent Health (PIPPAH) Project has received its second cooperative grant from the Office of Adolescent Health in the Health Resources Services Administration's Maternal and Child Health Bureau. The five-year, $500,000 grant will allow NASW to continue promoting adolescent health with members and the larger social work community. "We want to mobilize social workers and heighten their awareness of adolescent health issues," said Sheila Clark, NASW Program, Policy and Practice senior staff associate. "We want to look at how to promote a healthier adolescent population." The goals of the project are to: promote and expand the adolescent health agenda to the broad community of social workers, social work organizations and their constituents; strengthen the systems that impact adolescent health; and build interdisciplinary efforts and enhance collaboration of PIPPAH partners. Clark said a continuing education audio conference on adolescent health is in the works, as is a tool kit for social workers who work with youth and families. Back to NASW NEWS Contents |
