NASW Executive Director Receives Honorary Degree from Wartburg College

Washington, D.C. – In recognition of her work as a tireless champion for social justice, Elizabeth Clark, PhD, ACSW, MPH received the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa on May 28.

Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Clark has made significant contributions as a professional social worker, an administrator, and a scholar. Dr. Clark has served as the Executive Director of NASW since 2001. She has also worked in the cancer community, as a hospital administrator and as a professor.

“Dr. Clark’s life embodies the ways in which we at Wartburg College strive to instill in our students an ethical obligation to work toward social and economic justice,” says Jack R. Ohle, president of Wartburg College. “She serves as a role model for Wartburg’s expanding emphasis on community engagement.”

Wartburg College named the 2005-06 academic year as the Year of Social Work and Social Justice, honoring the Social Work Department’s 60-year history at the college. Wartburg’s Social Work Department is the oldest undergraduate program of its kind in Iowa.
