Campaign Launches Child Labor Action Plan
The 'Stop Child Labor' campaign has launched an 18-point action plan to help businesses eradicate the use of child labor at any point in their chain of production.
The document, called 'Out of work and into school', draws on advice from unions, employers, NGOs and officials from the International Labor Organization (ILO) to provide good practice experiences and insights.
The authors say the aim of the action plan is to combat all forms of child labor and focus on the link with the right to education, as well as to develop a policy of engaging companies in a process of planned improvement of all areas of their supply chain instead of simply withdrawing orders if problems with child labor are discovered.
The plan explicitly targets child labor with the broader goal of realizing labor rights, the report says.
