$2.5 Million Available For Peer-To-Peer Recovery Support Services

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announced the availability of FY 2006 funds for grants to deliver and evaluate peer-to-peer recovery services that help prevent relapse, and promote sustained recovery, from alcohol and drug use disorders.  The focus of this program is to be on keeping people in recovery.

It is expected that up to $2.5 million will be available to fund up to 7 grants. Annual awards are expected to be about $350,000 per year in total costs for up to 4 years.  The grants will be awarded by SAMHSA's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT).

Those who can apply include:  Domestic, public and private nonprofit entities, such as state and local governments; federally recognized tribes; state recognized tribes; urban Indian organizations; public or private universities and colleges; and community, faith-based and tribal organizations.

HOW TO APPLY:  Applications for No TI-06-004 are available by calling SAMHSA's clearinghouse at 1-800-729-6686, or by downloading from www.Grants.gov or www.samhsa.gov.  Applicants are encouraged to apply on line using www.Grants.gov.
