Legislative and Legal Advocacy for Social Workers On February 3, 2009, U.S. Rep. Edolphus “Ed” Towns reintroduced the Dorothy I. Height and Whitney M. Young, Jr. Social Work Reinvestment Act (H.R. 795) in the House. Thirty-nine cosponsors already have signed on. The bill is designed to ensure our ability to serve individuals across the lifespan by addressing challenges we face such as on-the-job safety, significant educational debt, and insufficient salaries.
