MAJOR FUNCTIONS: The Director of Human Resources is responsible for formulating the Human Resource (HR) strategies of the Association. Directs the daily operation of the Office of Human Resources, including the areas of compensation, benefits, labor and employee relations, recruitment and retention, organizational development and training, and personnel systems/records management. Is an approachable, open-minded leader who is comfortable working collaboratively and in partnership with others. Work activities are performed under limited supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires a Bachelor's degree and a MS or MA in an H-R related field. PHR or SPHR certification or equivalent highly desirable.
- Requires comprehensive knowledge of all areas of Human Resources, including Compensation and Benefits, Employee Relations and Performance Management; Recruitment and Retention, Organizational Development and Training, and Personnel Records/HRIS.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of personnel policies and practices, as well as applicable governmental laws and regulations.
- Requires ten (10) years of prior HR work experience (management and supervisory) with at least four (4) years as HR Director.
- Requires experience in a union environment, specifically in private-sector labor relations.
- Must have the ability to collaborate and interact well with senior executives and staff at all levels is necessary.
- Requires proficient skill in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Must demonstrate outstanding communication, organizational, and problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to multi-task while prioritizing critical activities.
- Must demonstrate exemplary tact, discretion, and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive issues and individuals.
- Must be self-motivated; display team and relationship-building savvy; and have track record of successfully managing external vendor relationships in a variety of HR areas.
