Military Community and Family Policy

Judith Dekle, MSW, LCSW, ACSW, has supported military families as an Air Force Officer and as a civilian. A U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) employee for almost 20 years, she currently serves as a senior program analyst within the DoD Office of Family Policy with responsibility for policy and programs that support military families. Ms. Dekle facilitates collaboration between the Services (Army, Navy, and Air Force) in an increasingly resource constrained and joint environment with high operational tempo, promoting continuous improvement of existing programs, and development of new programs based on available evidence of effectiveness.  She currently leads the implementation of: joint needs assessment and performance reporting; development and deployment of uniform training for family support personnel; training of federal, state, and local community providers on community capacity building; application of uniform standards for family program delivery; and identification and development of metrics for measurement of program effectiveness.

Ms. Dekle previously worked in inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment settings, domestic violence community advocacy, prevention, and treatment.  She has presented on a wide range of topics to professional audiences and most recently has been engaged in building community healthcare capacity to address the needs of military members and their families.

Ms. Dekle received her BSW from the University of Alabama, and her MSW from the University of Tennessee. She is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers.
