Hope Conference Speakers

karen bullockKaren Bullock, PhD, LCSW
Associate Professor
North Carolina State University

Karen Bullock, PhD, LCSW, is an Associate Professor at North Carolina State University in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Social Work. She also holds a clinical appointment at the Institute of Living, Hartford Hospital’s Mental Health Network. 

Dr. Bullock has more than 20 years of experience as a mental health clinician and currently serves as the President of the NASW Connecticut Chapter, and sits on NASW’s National Committee on Mental Health. She trained in Epidemiology and Child Psychiatry at Albert Einstein and Columbia-Presbyterian medical centers in New York City prior to receiving her PhD. Since that time, her research and clinical practice have been in the areas of health disparities, cultural competence, aging, and end-of-life care. Dr. Bullock has published and presented nationally and internationally on health care disparities and end-of-life care issues.

She has served on several community and national boards including the Social Work Hospice & Palliative Care Network, the NASW National Council on Race and Ethnic Diversity, Council on Social Work Education’s Council on Leadership Development and president of the Connecticut Chapter of NASW.

Dr. Bullock earned an MS in social work from Columbia University and a PhD from Boston University.
