Hope Conference Speakers

Michael BrandMichael Brand, PhD, MSW
Associate Professor
University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center

Michael Brand, PhD, MSW is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, Director of the Psychiatric Clerkship, Adjunct Professor of Public Health and Social Work and a member of the OU Physicians practice at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Major Brand’s public health interests include all hazard preparedness, program evaluation, and disaster mental health. His clinical areas of practice include psychological trauma, chemical dependence, co-morbid mood disorders, marriage, and family therapy. He holds the rank of Major in the United States Army Reserves as a social work officer in the Medical Services Corps. Major Brand has been deployed twice to Iraq, has commanded a Medical Detachment (Combat and Operational Stress Control), and now serves as the Deputy for the Army Reserve Social Work Consultant to The Surgeon of the Army.

Major Brand received a PhD from the University of Texas-Arlington, an MSW from the University of Oklahoma, and an MMFT and a BA from Abilene Christian University.
