NASW Recognizes 4th Annual National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Health Awareness Week

NASW supports National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Health Awareness Week. National LGBT Health Awareness Week is a project of the National Coalition for LGBT Health and is dedicated to encouraging members of the LGBT community to be aware of personal healthcare needs and to take action to address those needs.

Annually, one week in March is designated to highlight the health care needs of the LGBT community.  This year, the week of March 12-18, 2006 focuses on “Own Your Health. Get Checked Out” and will emphasize six important health care topics that effect members of the LGBT community.  These healthcare issues include: Mental Health; Sexual Health; Substance Use; Heart Health; Fitness; and Domestic Violence and Safety.
