Social Work Research on Welfare

Welfare ReauthorizationThe National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is pleased to announce a collaboration between NASW and the Institute for the Advancement of Social Work Research (IASWR) that will promote social work research and heighten researcher's visibility among social workers, the public, policymakers, and state and federal legislators. The reauthorization of the 1996 PRWORA legislation in Congress presents an important opportunity for social work knowledge to inform a critical public policy debate. The identified research provides pertinent information and contributes to existing knowledge that policymakers and legislators may find applicable to their deliberations and that may be useful for the media to highlight as part of the public discussion on welfare reform and economic security for families.
