Participant Roles
Roles for Group to Assign
- Send invitation to scheduler at the member of Congress'
district office
- Follow up on invitation within one week
- Write letter to the editor
School's Title IV-E Coordinator
- Work with Child Welfare Agency to set up meeting location
- Provide information on the benefit of the program to the
school
- Find a student or graduate to provide personal testimony
Title IV-E Student or Graduate
- Provide information on the benefit of the program to you
as a professional social worker or social worker in training
- Be available on day of site visit to talk with member of
Congress
Child Welfare Agency Administrator or IV-E Coordinator
- Provide information on the benefit of the program to the
agency and its clients
- Be available on day of site visit to talk with member of
Congress
- Set up logistics at the agency for the site visit
NASW Chapter Executive Director or Legislative Relations Staff
- Be available on day of the site visit
- Provide write up on the site visit in the Chapter newsletter
- Post pictures of the visit on Chapter Web site
NASW National Staff
- Provide fact sheets on Title-IVE
- Provide talking points
- Provide background on the member of Congress
including voting record, involvement with our legislation
and endorsements, if any
- Provide sample documents such as meeting request
letter and thank you
- Host meetings of core group to plan site visit
- Assist with media outreach
