Survivors of Hurricane Katrina in the U.S. deserve more,
so do those living in poverty here and around the world. Basic
shelter, healthcare and access to food and water are human
rights.
Send a letter to support the movement to eradicate
extreme poverty.
NASW is committed to pressing leaders to live up to their
promises. This alert links to an online letter urging Secretary
of State Condoleeza Rice to engage in the World Summit at the
UN September 14-16, 2005 , in support of the goals to eradicate
extreme poverty and provide for basic human needs. We ask you
to also place a phone call to President George W. Bush and
a fax to Ambassador John Bolton (contact information is listed
below).
As part of the ONE Campaign social workers call for increased
international funding devoted to providing for healthcare,
education, clean water, and food.
In the U.S. we thank our international colleagues (from
the International Federation of Social Workers and elsewhere)
for their support and assistance for the hurricane survivors,
as we work to strenghten the international system to alleviate
human catastrophe.

Script for fax:
As Ambassador to the United Nations now is
the time for you to examine of how aid, debt and trade can
be better coordinated to ensure progress towards addressing
extreme poverty. Alleviating poverty will enhance world security
by reducing the pool of those who see violence as the only
way to enhance their well being. Your leadership in this matter
can help.
